bio

Amy Abrew (she/her) is a Boise, ID (USA) based poet, film photographer, and visual artist with an interest in connection, grief, memory and time. With formal education in developmental psychology and play therapy, as well as twenty years of parenting four children, Amy has always had an interest in our humanness. She uses words and images to explore just what it means to be human in our ever-changing environment. Her photography journey began over fifteen years ago when she taught herself using a digital camera. Some time later, as a way of reconnecting with her childhood, she dove into the worlds of 35mm, medium format, and instant film. Her creative process almost always includes words and images, allowing one to inform the other.
